Hi, and welcome to The Yachtless, a blog that is still figuring itself out.

I first created the blog in August 2015 as a way to motivate myself to pay off $57,000 worth of federal student debt. I wrote a lot of posts in 2015 and 2016 about money and debt and random other things like anxiety and my avocado tree and what-ifs and childhood games and self-compassion and finishing grad school.

Then after the 2016 U.S. presidential election I wrote some posts about trying to be a better citizen and getting more engaged in politics.

After that I didn’t write for a while. I just felt like I needed a break.

Now I’m writing again. I’m trying not to pressure myself to have a specific theme. I’m just writing and hoping the theme will unearth itself as I go.

About me generally: I’m in my mid-30s, I live in Boston, and I work in a “helping” profession. I haven’t yet paid off all my student loans, but I’m working on it. I listen to a lot of podcasts and am trying to read more books. I don’t have a car, so I walk and use public transportation to get pretty much everywhere. I eat a lot of mason jar salads and am way into tiramisu. I’d like to say that I meditate regularly, but honestly that would be a bit of a stretch.

Thanks for reading, and be sure to say hi sometime. 🙂
